A. Eligibility Criteria

Yes. Candidates should have been born on or after October 01, 2000. Five years of age relaxation is given to SC, ST, and PwD candidates, i.e, these candidates should have been born on or after October 01, 1995.

No. There is no restriction in appearing in IAT 2025 based on the completion year of Class XII. The eligibility criteria for appearing in IAT 2025 is based on only the age limit (FAQ A.Q1 above).

Any student who has qualified Class XII (or equivalent) examination in science stream can apply to the B. Tech. (four year) degree) / BS (four year) degree / BS-MS (five year) dual degree programs in IISERs provided the eligibility criteria are satisfied. At present, the BS in Economic Sciences program and B. Tech. programs are available only at IISER Bhopal, the BS in Economic and Statistical Sciences program is available only at IISER Tirupati and BS-MS in Computational and Data Sciences program is available only at IISER Kolkata. Also, for applying to any of the BS/B. Tech. degree programs and for applying to BS-MS in Computational and Data Sciences degree program, candidates must have Mathematics as one of the subjects in Class XII (or equivalent) examination. Yes. You must produce the result of the qualifying examination (Class XII or equivalent) when the portal opens to upload documents for counselling (post the declaration of IAT 2025 results). Failing this, you will not be considered for counselling.

Yes. Candidates who are not citizens of India AND do not hold OCI/PIO cards shall be considered foreign nationals. Such candidates, if eligible to appear for IAT 2025, may contact the Chairperson, Joint Admissions Committee at ask2025@jac.iisertirupati.ac.in with the email subject line "Foreign National - Application for IAT 2025".

The candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD are required to score a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in their Class XII (or equivalent) examination. Candidates belonging to other categories are required to score a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in their Class XII (or equivalent) examination. Note that, the percentage needs to be calculated using aggregate marks, that is, the sum of the marks obtained in ALL the subjects taken in class XII (or equivalent) level. B. Application Process

No. All admissions are carried out centrally. IISERs admit students through a common application process and all candidates will be admitted through the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2025. One application form submitted through the application portal is valid for all the IISERs.

Yes. The application fee is Rs. 2000/- for candidates applying under General, EWS, OBC, and OBC-NCL categories and is Rs. 1,000/- for candidates applying under persons with disabilities (PwD), persons registered as Kashmiri Migrants (KM) and SC/ST category. The application fee is non-refundable and must be paid during the submission of the application form, which starts from March 05, 2025.

No. It is not required during the filling up of the application form for appearing in the IAT 2025. You will be asked for your preferences of IISERs in the online application form during counselling, if eligible. This is required to be done only after the declaration of the IAT 2025 results.

You need to upload your original mark sheet in the application portal but the percentage in the application form should be the revised one. The revised marks statement from your board confirming the change of marks must be sent to ask2025@jac.iisertirupati.ac.in with a subject line “Revised Marks”. You should also mention your application number in the subject line. Click here for the timeline. Please note if the subject line is not as mentioned above, we may not be able to help you.

Once you have submitted your application, you will be allowed some windows at specified times where you can edit some information on your application. Please click here for the details of the time windows. You will NOT be able to edit category (General/OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/KM) information after submitting the application.

Your application is not complete until you can download the pdf version of the filled application form after you make the payment (application fee as applicable). OBC-NCL stands for Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer). If you belong to this category, then you must select OBC-NCL as your category. Candidates belonging to this category must upload an OBC-NCL certificate, which should be valid for the financial year 2025-26 and issued on or after 1st April, 2025.

EWS stands for the Economically Weaker Sections. It applies to those candidates who satisfy the criteria of income and assets as laid out by the Govt. of India. Candidates belonging to this category must upload an EWS certificate, which should be valid for the financial year 2025-26 and issued on or after 1st April, 2025.

If you are already in possession of valid (see B.Q.12, 13 above) OBC-NCL/EWS certificates, you may submit/upload it during the application process. Otherwise, you need to upload the certificate on or before 16th June, 2025.

As Aadhar contains sensitive information, we are not collecting the same. You are requested to choose any other ID from the given options.

D. IAT 2025

It will be conducted in various cities across India. Choices for eight preferred centres where the candidate wishes to write the aptitude test have to be indicated while completing the online application form. The hall ticket will have the allotted centre details printed. If the examination cannot be conducted in any of the centres due to unforeseen reasons, the candidate would be allotted an alternate centre, and such information will be communicated in due course.

Currently, IISER Bhopal offers the 4-Year B. Tech. and BS (Economic Sciences) degree program and IISER Tirupati offers 4-year BS (Economic and Statistical Sciences) degree program. Float option allows a candidate to be allotted an IISER/program that is higher on their preference list (if any) than the one allotted in the current round, in subsequent rounds (if any). During counselling, the float option is enabled for all candidates who get an offer.

If you are satisfied with the IISER/program allotted to you in any round and do not wish to float, you can freeze your offer. Freeze option once exercised is final and cannot be changed under any circumstances.

Depending on your rank in IAT 2025 and availability of seats in the programs of your choice, you may be considered for allocation in a later round. You must periodically check the admission website for updates.

F. IISER Programs, Curricula, and Policies

All the IISERs offer five-year BS-MS dual degree. IISER Bhopal offers four-year B.Tech. degree and four-year BS in Economic Sciences degree. From 2025, IISER Tirupati introduces four-year BS in Economic and Statistical Sciences degree and IISER Kolkata introduces five-year BS-MS dual degree in Computational and Data Sciences.

Each IISER is an autonomous institution. Therefore, the degree is awarded by individual IISERs.

G. OCI / PIO / Foreign Candidates

A candidate who is not a citizen of India AND does not hold an OCI/PIO card shall be considered a foreign national.

You are eligible to appear if you either possess an equivalence certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities or you have passed the Class XII or an equivalent level examination from any board recognized by the Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) in India., subject to the fulfillment other criteria.
